The first half of the Spring has flown by in a flash! The Afiaras spent nearly five weeks in Denmark, where we played 22 concerts across the country, held a three-day chamber music residency with young ensembles, and, with a last performance in Sweden, we came back to Toronto where we played a variety of chamber works in several reading sessions with the students of the Glenn Gould School.
February and March saw us on a hopscotch of a tour of natural beauty: two concerts and teaching with pianist Jane Coop in British Columbia; three concerts and outreach performances in Kauai, Hilo, and Honolulu; and four performances (and reuniting with our good friend, pianist Steve Prutsman) at the Pro Musica of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Then we played for Cal Performances in Berkeley, California to a warm and wonderfully knowledgeable audience at the historic Hertz Hall.
Campbell/Afiara
In April, we had a chance to work on an exciting project with James Campbell and Graham Campbell: a sizzling and beautiful collision of worlds. With Jim’s background in classical and jazz, Graham’s background in jazz, punk, reggae, and Brazilian choros, the Afiara have had an inspirational time working on a new touring project for next season. Catch more and see a clip of our first promo video here Campbell/Afiara!
Finally, in May, the Afiara play at the headquarters of the innovative LinkedIn.com before our joint concerts with dear friends, Cecilia Quartet at the terrific series at Stanford Live.
We hope to see you all there!
