Kid Koala smashes together the worlds of his scratch DJing and creative mind, Hollywood production designer and director KK Barrett’s expertise at bringing whole new world’s to life, and the Afiara Quartet’s improvisational string playing in a multi-displinary project at once a concert and live cinematic experience. Where the Afiara has experience playing with film (Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr with music by Stephen Prutsman), where they must play exactly with the footage as the scenes and action change, the marvel of this production is found in the real conversation between music and film: The scene and music lead together; certain times, the scene may yield to the music and vice versa, to the full effect of a touching story about a robot’s love for a human girl, from Kid Koala’s graphic novel of the same name.
